Disaster Preparedness
Disaster Preparedness PDF Print E-mail

Our last two disaster preparedness meetings have been successful in networking with other organizations in the community.  In February, we were very fortunate to have Vicky Fletcher, Yolo County Shelter Director, who had provided the history of county disaster plan/evacuation procedures and has worked with OES (Office of Emergency Services).

The March “guests of honor” were, Tracey Martin-Stevens and Dr. John Madigan, both internationally known animal rescue experts.  Dr. Madigan is the Director of the International Animal Welfare Institute of U.C Davis, and also much involved in the creation and activation of VERT (Veterinary Emergency Response). Tracey is currently the Deputy Director of the International Animal Welfare Institute and had implemented a very successful animal disaster recovery program within Contra Costa County.  She hopes to create a pilot program between U.C. Davis, Yolo and Sacramento Counties for a disaster preparedness plan.
