Option 1: LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS ONLY (35k/yr family income)
Name: Sacramento Area Animal Coalition
Address: P. O. Box 161043, Sacramento, CA 95816
Phone: (916) 808-SPAY (7729)
Cost: $15/dog if you qualify- required to be low income
Location: Davis, and many other vets in Sacramento.
Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) uses their grant money and resources to provide low cost spay and neuter options to those who are low income. Funding is not always available, but this group is sometimes able to get dogs into a Davis veterinary clinic (and many other vet clinics located in the Sacramento area) for spay and neuter at reasonable prices. This group has a message machine to record incoming spay/neuter requests by phone, and a volunteer will return all calls as soon as possible. Please give them 2-3 days to return your call before trying them a second time.
Upon meeting the qualifications for the voucher program (family income of $35,000 or less per year and proof of income mailed in), your dog can be fixed for a $15 copay at one of the vets who works in agreement with SAAC.
Other Services: This group promotes SPAY DAY. This program is offered in February every year, with the phone lines typically opening for appointment scheduling in early January. This program offers spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping at very little cost for both dogs and cats.
Option 2: Dog Spay/Neuter for LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS ONLY (35k/yr family income)
I have arranged an option in Davis for the starting price of $70/male, $90/female. Pricing goes up with weight, so please email me for a price quote with the weight and sex of your dog at
. This option does require you to meet the low income requirements as well.
Option 3: Any Income Level
Name: ACT Clinic in Stockton
Address: 327 East Alpine Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204-3407 (about 1 hour away from Davis)
Phone: (209) 462-SPAY
Cost: Starting at $70 for a male, $80 for a female, up to $150-175 depending on weight of dog. Does not require you to be low income.
Location: Stockton, CA
Option 4: Any Income Level
Please call around to the local vets and ask what the Total price is for spay/neuter. You can ask about waiving pre-anesthetic blood work/ exam, as this would not be done at a low cost option typically. You should be able to find a small dog spay for under $200, and a neuter for closer to $150 in the Davis/Woodland area per individuals emailing me to let me know pricing they have encountered.

***Both SAAC and Sacramento SPCA have a full listing of other clinics in the Sacramento area that are low-cost. These lists are not always current on prices, but provide other possible options available to individuals. These clinics are generally more highly priced than the clinics listed above, or are farther away, but are important options to be aware of***
