Aries

I'm writing you to give you an update on a wonderful dog my partner & I adopted through your organization in June 2005. He was identified in your records as one of "Pearl's pups", Internal ID D99, a border collie mix whom we adopted when he was 8 weeks old. He is now almost 2 1/2 years old and weighs about 45 pounds and is in excellent health I'm happy to say. We named him Aries and he is an absolutely incredible creature whom we both love and who gives us tremendous joy. We've come to the conclusion that he is part whippet, which our vet and others agree is his likely breeding.

Besides being beautiful which the attached photo I think clearly demonstrates, Aries is sweet, affectionate, smart and incredibly playful. He's not the sort of dog who will be satisfied with just a simple walk and requires an hour or so of full throttle activity every day, which we faithfully provide him, rain or shine. He loves to play ball and with his speed and agility he always attracts attention; young kids and many adults are often amazed at his ability to leap into the air to catch a ball. It's always fun to watch other people's reactions to him. Even after all this time I myself still get quite a thrill watching him in action.

His favorite place to hang out is Point Isabel on the Berkeley/Richmond border where he can run freely, play ball and take a swim, which he loves to do as well. The attached photo is one I took on July 4th at Fort Funston in San Francisco as he was eagerly waiting for a ball to be tossed.

Aries was one of a litter of six and I hope his brothers and sisters as well as his mom are as happy and healthy as he is. If you have any good news to share about his siblings or mom we'd enjoy hearing from you. I'm sure in your line of work you encounter situations where adoptions don't go well and I thought it would make you and your co-workers happy to know that one of the pups you rescued has turned out so well and is in a loving home.
